Maya studied Experimental Psychology at Oxford graduating in 2017 with a 2:1. At A Level she achieved A*AA grades in Psychology, Biology and Maths (A* in Psychology). Since graduating Maya has taught Psychology alongside work in digital marketing, where she specialises in social media and fashion content.

Teaching Experience & Approach

Maya has tutored GCSE and A Level students of a range of abilities in Psychology for over 4 years, across several exam boards, amassing over 500 hours of experience. Maya also provides Oxbridge and university admissions help, assisting students with their personal statements, interview and admissions test preparation as well as general mentoring for students who struggle with time management, exam technique and motivation.

Finding that schools and textbooks often over-complicate topics in Psychology and inundate students with an excessive and unnecessary amount of detail, leaving them overwhelmed and disinterested, Maya’s aim is to demystify these subjects and make sure that students have a strong foundational understanding of the basics to build on. She works to give students confidence, encouraging curiosity and engagement and sharing her fascination with the subject.

Why Tutoring?

I have found tutoring to be incredibly rewarding. Students often report feeling lost and overwhelmed in class, and it is an amazing feeling when I am able to help them come to a ‘eureka’ moment, realising that they now have a full understanding of something that they believed to be incredibly complex and confusing.

I also love sharing my genuine passion for Psychology. Many schools present the subject in a very clinical way that is quite far removed from everyday life and seems dry and uninteresting to students. I love presenting concepts to students in a way that is relatable to their own lives and demonstrate to them how Psychology is all around us and can be used to explain everything we do, say and think.
