BACKGROUND

Rania has a Master’s in Chemical Engineering with first class honours from University College London. She majored in pure and organic chemistry, with further pure mathematics, engineering statistics, mechanics and thermodynamics core modules, and chose biochemical electives as part of her Master’s degree.  During High school, Rania received A*s in 9 subjects at GCSE and 4 As at A level in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Her academic career has consolidated her knowledge and understanding of the Sciences and Mathematics.

In her free time Rania enjoys travelling – her goal is to visit every country in the world! Rania believes travelling is the greatest form of education, and is enthused by new cultures, traditions and languages.

TUTORING EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH

Rania taught students at GCSE level for the past 5 years, in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, and has experience of tutoring students with completely different learning styles. She has taught a range of examination boards; AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge. Rania has mentored GCSE students, averaging grades D-C in Chemistry and Biology, who went on to achieve A and A* grades in their final examinations this year.

Rania’s approach to tutoring begins with understanding the students requirements, their syllabi, coursework and examinations papers. Then, understanding their learning styles and how best to deliver the content to them.

Where students require a more hands on approach, she guides them through the content, observing their learning style, taking them through step-by-step problem solving techniques, and giving guidance on how they can best spend their independent learning time. In cases where students are experiencing problems, for example on the experimentation portions of their papers, Rania will take a topic-based approach, selecting relevant and helpful questions to challenge them and build their confidence. Above all Rania feels her role is to provide an encouraging and motivating space for the student to freely learn at their pace in their own way.

为什么要进行辅导?

I began tutoring as part of my high school mathematics help desk sessions for younger years. Tutoring my first student professionally made me particularly passionate about teaching. The parent of the prospective student complained that the previous tutor lacked the patience to guide the student through struggles in sciences. A couple of sessions in, I quickly learnt that the student best studied visually, so I tailored schematics and videos before each session.  I realized with a bit of encouragement and perseverance they were able to rebuild their confidence. We steadily made our way through the entire syllabus and the student was able to achieve an A* in Chemistry.

My favourite book is Thinking, Fast and Slow. This book has taught me to dissect my judgement and thinking process, augmenting my daily critical analysis skills.
