TEACHING EXPERIENCE & APPROACH
Alastair has been tutoring students for GCSE and A level for over 16 years and has 9 years’ experience providing online tuition through specialised online tuition classrooms or combining Skype or Zoom with an interactive whiteboard as a virtual classroom. He has over 1000 hours experience using online tuition nationally and internationally.
Additionally, he has extensive teaching experience as a science teacher in state and independent schools, specialising in Chemistry, and at university as a lecturer in Organic Chemistry. He has also worked as an examiner at both A-level and GCSE.
“I base my tutoring on the student’s needs, developing their prior knowledge, building confidence in their learning and problem-solving skills whilst developing exam technique. My students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and an appreciation of what examiners require by developing their assessment for learning skills. I enjoy online tutoring and my students have all benefited enormously from individualised support in preparation for their examinations. Students enjoy the tutorial style lessons which are normally 1 hour in duration, but longer times can be arranged if required.”
“Such a good teacher! Explains everything so clearly, shows you how to apply theory to exam questions and is so easy to get on with. I would highly recommend him” – A-Level Chemistry student
