BACKGROUND
An outstanding classroom practitioner with a true passion for Teaching and Learning, Alice is dedicated to developing resources and strategies to support students in discovering a love and understanding of Geography.
With a degree in Geology from Durham University, Alice achieved Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has undertaken a specialist National Professional Qualification (NPQ) in Leading teacher development. She is also an A Level and GCSE exam marker for AQA with excellent exam board knowledge.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, Alice enjoys playing tennis, exercising, cooking, eating out and spending time with her baby boy, friends and family.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
With 13 years’ experience of teaching A Level and GCSE Geography for different exam boards, in two outstanding schools, Alice is exceptionally well equipped to support students in their Geography learning and exam preparation. She has tutored students 1:1 for over 5 years and is also particularly skilled at tutoring for Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) at A Level.
Alice’s approach to tutoring is calm, organised, fun and rigorous. Her students will work and think hard in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
WHY TUTORING
I love tutoring as it allows for a positive working partnership with a student to be created, outside of the usual classroom setting and its associated business. To see a tutee of mine achieve is very fulfilling, especially as they often start the process with me lacking confidence in their abilities. I love to help students unpick what is confusing and support them in moving forward in their learning.
My favourite book is The Overstory by Richard Powers
