BACKGROUND

A full-time Mathematics and Science tuition specialist, Arran holds a Bsc in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics from University College London and a Masters’ degree in Teacher Education from St Anne’s College, University of Oxford.

Arran is a regular speaker at schools across the UK, delivering talks on pedagogical approaches, revision methods and examination techniques.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH

An academic mentor with over 15 years’ UK and international experience, Arran teaches GCSE, IGCSE and A-Level Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry and offers entrance examination and university application guidance.

Arran has rigorous knowledge of the GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A-Level curriculum across all of the major examination boards. Employing an abundance of teaching techniques, resources, worksheets and revision materials Arran has prepared students for entrance to a broad variety of academic institutions at 11+, 13+, 14+, sixth form and beyond, including applications to elite private and grammar schools and top tier universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, LSE, Imperial, Warwick, Durham and St Andrews.

Arran is also a lead academic content creator for the ExamApp GCSE eLearning platform, which was developed at the University of Oxford.

WHY TUTORING?

I find enabling students to fulfil their true academic potential hugely rewarding, especially when they have not been able to flourish via normal schooling. 

My favourite book is The Art of War by Sun Tzu.
