Having left school with 3 A stars in Latin, Greek, and Art, Emil went on to complete a Fine Art Foundation course at Central Saint Martins. On graduating with Distinction, he decided to pursue his interest in the Classics and completed a Classics degree at Christ’s College Cambridge, achieving a starred First-class grade in his finals. He was honoured with the S.G. Campbell Exhibition Award, as well as the Henry Arthur Thomas Award. He is currently enrolled in an MPhil in Classics at Christ’s with a full academic scholarship.
Aside from tutoring and working on his MPhil, Emil loves to travel (coronavirus allowing!), play tennis, paint, and act. He is a member of the comedy sketch group, the Cambridge Footlights, as well as a member of the National Youth Theatre, with whom he has performed up and down the country.
Teaching Experience and Approach
Emil’s approach to tutoring is hands-on. He believes that his students have all the potential it takes to achieve their goals, they just need the right support. Every student needs a different approach and Emil will always cater his teaching style to their specific needs. He is a believer in hard work. That’s not to say he won’t also have time for fun and new approaches to tackling problems.
Emil has tutored 11+, 13+, GCSE, iGCSE, A-levels, and university prep and entrance to university level in Latin, Greek, Art, English, and History. He has gotten two students into Central Saint Martins for Art Foundation, helped students receive A stars in their GCSE and A-level examinations, and get into St. Paul’s, Highgate, and University College School, to name a few. Emil also has experience tutoring people with OCD and ADHD.
Emil is passionate about his subjects and relishes having the opportunity to imbue that passion in his students where they might be struggling or disenchanted. Helping someone achieve their goals and feel successful is so rewarding. Often those that need a bit of extra help have been wrongly left behind by their schools. It’s a pleasure to nudge them along to get the grades they can definitely achieve. For Emil, it’s always a joy working with younger people, from coaching toddlers at tennis to school examination help.
“We have known Emil for the last 6 years. He helped my son with revision in Latin and Ancient Greek at Common Entrance and GCSE level. Emil has always been very reliable, supportive, patient, knowledgeable, and professional. My son enjoyed his lessons with Emil tremendously and looks up to him as a mentor. As a family, we would be happy to recommend Emil and know that he would be an asset to anyone he works with”
“Emil helped me with my personal statement and my portfolio for applications for art degrees and art foundations. He was really supportive throughout my application process, giving me good advice and confidence. I really enjoyed out tutorials and would highly recommend him for other students seeking someone with creative experience and good knowledge in this field”
