Jessica
Senior Tutor
BACKGROUND
Jessica is a skilled education professional with 20 years of teaching experience. Holding a Master of Science in Economics, she has been an EdExcel and IB History and Politics Examiner and has certificates in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Counselling for Non-Counsellors – she also possesses an invaluable repertoire of strange historical facts!
TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
Jessica has taught Geography and History from age 7+ to GCSE, A-Level and IB at a range of public schools in the UK from Benenden to Charterhouse and Glenalmond. She believes in making her subjects interesting, challenging and fun, and produces specific resources, but I also never loses sight of her pupils’ ultimate goal – to do well in their examinations.
A long-time Pre-Test coach in English and Humanities, Jessica is very good at encouraging reluctant readers and writers to engage with the different things being asked of them. She believes that past papers are key and harnesses the immediacy of feedback and use of shared documents inherent to online tutoring to her advantage.
Extremely experienced in preparing pupils for scholarships and Common Entrance, UCAS and US admissions, Jessica takes a supportive and pupil-led approach to tutoring. With many years’ experience as an examiner, she is able to offer a focus on examination skills and preparation and offer an invaluable perspective on the different Board requirements and how to meet them, which is crucial when it comes to raising grades.
WHY TUTORING
I really enjoy working with my pupils to help them build confidence in their abilities and taking some of the fear and nerves out of the experience.
