Tom is in his final year studying Engineering at the University of Oxford. He has received two academic exhibitions in his time at Oxford University for outstanding performance in 2nd and 3rd year exams. He achieved A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A level, and A in Economics. While studying for these exams he helped tutor his friends for their Maths finals. At GCSE level he achieved 9A* results and 1A.
He has a keen interest in AI and is currently researching machine learning. He has been interested in Engineering since the age of 13, when he found his school’s electronics lab, spending a lot of his free time there. His love of creating, as well as enjoyment of Maths and Physics, made the decision to study Engineering an easy one.
Tom was an academic prefect at school and won the inter-house debating competition in his final year.
He was born in London, grew up in the countryside of England and has studied in Oxfordshire since the age of 13. In his spare time, Tom enjoys photography and runs an aerial photography business.
Tom has tutored family and friends extensively, mostly in Maths. He assisted several friends in achieving highly improved marks in Maths, even giving support and assistance on the morning of exams.
The tutorial system at Oxford has placed Tom well in terms of teaching experience, as the Oxford tutors ensure that students are able to clearly articulate concepts verbally and through diagrams. Tom is a great believer in making sure students understand diagrams and have the skill to make them themselves to ensure they really understand the content.
