BACKGROUND
Yousif holds a BSc in Mathematics with Management and Finance from King’s College, London.
A Management Consultant at Capgemini Invent, Yousif heads up the Analytics Academy – a team of over 20 graduates – as part of his role. Additionally, he volunteers 2 days a month with the Metropolitan Police as a Special Constable and is a member of IMM where he organises interfaith events to promote unity between different faiths through charity events.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND APPROACH
Believing in a focus on fundamentals, Yousif finds that a lot of students he teaches have problems that stem from a lack of understanding of much simpler material and likes to take a step back and look at the more basic ideas that make up the core of the subject.
Yousif encourages students to participate and be active as much as possible during lessons, often getting them to reason through problems and ideas themselves, while helping them along the way. This allows him to assess their understanding and thought processes and identify any gaps in their knowledge, personalising his teaching to the individual.
Yousif believes in the importance of offering connections with, and examples from, everyday life, transforming Maths from dry and sometimes irrelevant seeming concepts with imagination to bring it to life. He uses diagrams and props whenever possible, finding it to be the most expressive way of teaching.
WHY TUTORING
I’m a mathematician by trade and have always had a passion for numbers from a young age. I thorough enjoy helping my students and being part of their learning journey.
My favourite book is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
